                    PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:

Paragon Products plastic rebar chairs are used to support reinforcing bars in reinforced concrete.  They may be used to

support horizontal reinforcing steel, wire mesh or post tension cable.

                    ADVANTAGES:

                    -    Reinforcing steel snaps easily into chair (eliminating wire tying).

                    -    Wide base allows chair to stand securely.

                    -    Non-corrosive polypropylene (eliminates surface blemishes).

                    -    Non-conductive, perfect for bridge decks.

                    -    Also available without base.

                    CODE APPROVAL:

Paragon support chairs have been approved by the Iowa Department of Transportation.  In order to be approved by the

I.D.O.T., supports must meet or exceed the load carrying capacity of the steel wire supports.

                    TESTING PROCEDURE:

The testing procedure involves determining a point load limit for all supports.  The point load limit is determined by placing

#4 reinforcing bar on the support.  The support is then placed on a 3/4" piece of fir plywood.  A load is applied to the bar

at a rate of .5" deflection per minute until the support fails.  Point loads are determined at the weakest point on continuous

                    supports.

                    INSTALLATION:

Rebar chairs should be installed by laborers who are experienced with reinforcing steel placement.  Maximum

spacing of chairs should not exceed 48 inches.  Comply with applicable codes and structure design criteria for

minimum spacing of reinforcement from edges of forms.
